First Class Client Installation Guide

For PC/Windows 3.X:
  1. Uncompress the FC-WIN.EXE file.
    To uncompress the file FC-WIN.EXE that you just downloaded, you can simply double-click on the file name, FC-WIN.EXE, located under the directory where the FC-WIN.EXE download to.

  2. Run SETUP.EXE to install First Class.
    Double-Click the file name, SETUP.EXE, under the directory where you uncompressed the FC-WIN.EXE.

  3. Click on the Continue Button.
    The next dialog box prompts you to indicate which options you want to install. Select all of them unless you are short of disk space. Checking Windows Help provides on-line help files for your reference. You will also need to enter the destination directory, where you want the FirstClass files to be located. If you don't want the default, c:\fcwin, enter your desired directory, but not the directory where the install files from Step 1 are located. If the directory does not exist, it will be created.

  4. Click Install.
    A windows will display, indicating the progress of the installation. You can click Cancel at any time to cancel the installation.

  5. Click OK.
    When the installation process is completed, click OK. The FirstClass program group window displays in the Program Manager.

  6. Test First Class.
    Double-click on the FirstClass-UW icon will launch FirstClass. Make sure that you have your machine is netwroked either with TCP connection or modem dial-in connection to DoIT's SLIP server. If you don't underderstand what are they, skip them. Try to launch First Class Client when your browser can browse Hearing and Balance homepage.

  7. Check additional documentations.
    Additional documentation is in the Docs directory where you uncompressed the files, and in your Usage Guide.

For Macintosh:

Assume you have WiscWorld 2.5 installed on your Macintosh. You are already in good shape. A simple click will do it all. Do the following steps to clean up unnecessary stuff and put First Class to the right place.

  1. When you double-click on Download in Step 1, Netscape will automatically copy the archived file, de-code it and uncompress it. The files fc-mac.hqx, FirstClass Client.sea, and the FirstClass Client folder will be located in the Temporary Directory specified in Directories, Applications and News under your Netscape Preferences. You can delete all of the files except for the FirstClass Client folder.

  2. Move the FirstClass Client folder to a desired location on your desktop.

  3. Double-click on the FirstClass-UW icon will launch FirstClass. Make sure that your machine is netwroked in either TCP connection or modem dial-in connection to DoIT's SLIP server. If you don't underderstand what are they, skip them. Try to launch First Class Client when your browser can browse Hearing and Balance homepage.
